The Ryan Jude Doyle Infusion Suite - UMass Children's Hospital

UMass Children's Hospital // The Ryan Jude Doyle Infusion Suite

This illustration series was installed for the 2026 opening of the Ryan Jude Doyle Infusion Suite. The existing infusion center was expanded and renovated with recliners, companion chairs, and entertainment options to enhance the patient experience. The RD26 Foundation’s mission is to bring comfort and hope to families facing pediatric cancer. It is truly such an honor to be able to bring the vision of Ryan’s family to life and to help them in even a small way celebrate the life and spirit of such a hero.

The treatment stations feature Worcester area scenes that patients were likely to be familiar with and they were commissioned to compliment the existing 5th Floor Pediatric Wing murals. These images are more detailed with more shapes and animals for counting and discussion while patients receive treatment for extended periods of time.

Featured landmarks include the Tower Hill Botanical Gardens, Elm Park, Bancroft Tower, City Hall, Washington Station, Worcester Plaza, the Ecotarium’s Siegfried, the iconic Worcester three-deckers, local farms and reservoirs. There are also some unique Worcester callouts like the polar bear (a nod to Orson) and smiley face (invented in Worcester). The smiley face was also a nod to what his family says is “Ryan’s example: Loving life and each other and doing our best to make others smile.”

It was a joy - as always - to work with L’Attitude for the creative direction and coordination with hospital staff to make sure that all of the sensitivities and unique requirements of such a place were met. There is great care taken to ensure the comfort of children and their families with the artwork.

As a mom, I understand the impact of softness and warmth in a pediatric medical setting. This has been one of the most meaningful series for me and it is my hope that these artworks will bring comfort and familiarity to families during their treatment.
